Leadership & Cemeteries
I've always found cemeteries comforting and felt drawn to them. Last week walking from a meeting in Old Street to another in Shoreditch I crossed Bunhill cemetery.
It had been a hectic day—my mind racing with to-dos and tasks. But as I walked among the gravestones felt calmer and clearer. In my coaching practice, I encourage clients to think about the bigger picture of their lives. It's so easy to get caught up in the chaos of the day-to-day, and sometimes we need a reminder of what really matters.
💭 Imagine the speeches at your 80th birthday. What do you want people to say about you?
💭 What advice would your future self, 30 years from now, give you in this moment?
💭 How important will this challenge feel a year from now?
As leaders—and as humans—it’s easy to lose perspective. Questions like these help us reconnect to what truly matters. So next time your mind starts to race, try giving them a moment of thought. Or, if you need a reset, take a walk through a cemetery.
